Our Organisation
VAPT was originally a binational group of trainees (ANZAPT), which was elevated to a formal RANZCP committee in the form of the Trainee Representative Committee (TRC). VAPT has since reformed and now exists as an independent association, with a membership role in the Victorian Branch of the RANZCP, as well as the Victorian Psychiatry Training Committee (VPTC).
Our mission is to empower and unify a diverse group of future psychiatrists, with the aim of allowing them to thrive throughout their training journey. We do this according to our vision for a fair and equitable workplace and training program.
You can join VAPT by registering on this website or via our Facebook group

Profiles
President: Dr Thomas Sellitto
Tom is working and training part-time, with a particular interest in psychotherapy. He is committed to developing VAPT’s relationships with other organizations and representing your interests. He can usually be found getting lost in either a local park or in a tangled mess of code that he won’t have time to finish.
Secretary: Dr Anna Cunningham
Anna Cunningham is an Alfred Trainee. After her second year of training in 2012, she took an unexpected break in training/rural detour and somehow became an outback GP for 8 years in Mount Isa, Far North Queensland, where she gained an appreciation for the challenges of providing mental health care to Australians in remote locations.
Education Officer: Dr Han Jie Soh
Han is a current Stage 1 trainee who is passionate about medical
education. He has been involved with teaching in different capacities throughout medical school and as a JMO. He finds it incredibly fulfilling and hopes to continue networking with like-minded people through VAPT. In his spare time, I enjoy a great hike and has a goal of exploring a new trail every month; let him know if you have any recommendations!
Engagement Officer: Dr Becky Wong
Becky is a Stage 2 trainee, originally from New Zealand. She’s so excited to be your social representative after everyone’s collective COVID hibernation. Having a tight knit community and group of peers is such a crucial component to enjoying your training experience! She is looking forward to helping trainees to connect with like-minded people, and to help facilitate a good work-life balance.
Rural Representative: Dr Madeleine Leung
Maddie is a psychiatry registrar training in Mildura. She is in her fourth year of training and has completed all her training there so far. She is excited about what regional/rural trainees can contribute to psychiatry, and passionate about advocating for sustainable and quality regional/rural training!
